Halbrook Wood is pleased to announce that Partner Anne Baggott and Associate Abbey Lee recently secured a complete summary judgment win for a client. The plaintiff, a former healthcare call center supervisor, sued the client and a co-defendant for allegations of race and disability discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation. The case is Tucker v. Maximus, Inc., et al., Case No. 4:20-cv-000902, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
Baggott and Lee argued that their client should be awarded summary judgment because it was not the plaintiff’s employer or joint employer under any applicable discrimination statute. Judge Greg Kays agreed that the client lacked the required level of control of the plaintiff’s work and did not manage or supervise the plaintiff in any meaningful way. Instead, only the co-defendant employed plaintiff. For more information, contact Anne Baggott at (913) 529-1188.
